Below are the modalities typically utilized in a Timberline therapeutic massage session:
Deep tissue massage techniques typically use slow strokes and deep pressure to relieve tension from the deepest layers of your muscles and connective tissues and to alleviate persistent muscle problems, such as soreness, tension, injury, or imbalance. Deep tissue massage can help relieve tight muscles, persistent muscle pain, anxiety, and stress.
Sports massage alternates deep pressure and compression with soothing Swedish massage strokes while incorporating stretching, pin and stretch, and trigger point therapy. Sports massage techniques help to prevent repetitive use and sports injuries. Sports massage is also great for improving range of motion, flexibility, and performance.
Ashiatsu, put simply, is a modality that uses the practitioner's feet to provide pressure to the client’s body. In Ashiatsu, pressure is spread throughout the larger surface area of the foot resulting in less pain during a deep tissue massage - the client can stay relaxed so the body can receive deep pressure without inducing a stress response.
